| I seek to give a voice to victims of conflict who should never have been targeted: civilian, women, children, old persons... I have chosen a figurative approach, using the nudity to symbolize the vulnerability and the lack of protection of the victims. It is also a way to pinpoint how the violence they endured destabilizes their physical and mental condition. I used light as an aggression on the bodies, leaving only black or absence of black and very bright body color. The bodies are left dismembered, to the view of the public that has to go through a traumatizing experience to reconstruct the image. My goal was to sensitize the audience to the individual suffering resulting from abuses and war crimes. |
